BioQXs Organizes Its First Ideathon at Darüşşafaka: Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

By BioQXs ·

On April 18th, BioQXs took a meaningful step beyond the lab and into the classroom, organizing our very first Ideathon at Darüşşafaka Eğitim Kurumları, one of Turkey's most storied educational institutions dedicated to providing opportunity for talented young people. The event was organized under the banner of BioQXs Academy, our initiative dedicated to turning ideas into action and nurturing the next generation of bioinnovators and bioentrepreneurs.

Nearly 50 students rose to the challenge, tackling real-world problems at the intersection of bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. Over the course of the day, they developed creative solutions and presented their ideas to a jury, not as passive learners, but as active problem-solvers engaging with some of the most important scientific and societal questions of our time.

The energy in the room said it all. These are students who are curious, driven, and ready to think big. Our role was simply to give them the stage.

The day was shaped in no small part by three exceptional speakers, each bringing deep expertise in one of the event's core pillars. Elif Esen joined us as our Bioengineering speaker, sharing how ideas in the life sciences can be transformed into impactful, real-world solutions. Seda Gümüş, founder of CarbonHints, brought her expertise as our Sustainability speaker, offering students a window into how innovation and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Mecit Yüzkat rounded out the trio as our Artificial Intelligence speaker, helping students understand how AI is becoming an indispensable tool for the scientists and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. We are sincerely grateful to all three for giving their time, knowledge, and energy to our students. We are also deeply thankful to the teaching team at Darüşşafaka and to all the mentors who helped make the day a success.

At BioQXs, we believe that the future of innovation in life sciences depends not just on the research happening in laboratories today, but on the minds we nurture for tomorrow. Bridging the gap between cutting-edge science and the next generation of thinkers is not a side project for us, it is a core part of who we are. Events like this Ideathon are how we put that belief into practice: by meeting young people where they are, sparking curiosity, and showing them that bioengineering and AI are not distant abstractions, but tools they can wield to shape the world around them.

As we said on the day: this is only the beginning. We look forward to bringing the BioQXs Academy to more students and professionals in the months and years ahead.
